So yeah… the title says it all!  I was tagged by Mark over at Blogitude, and I figured it would be fun to play along. 

A-Attached or Single?    I am attached to a beautiful girl in Oklahoma who I can’t wait to see this summer.

B-Best Friend:  Other than Laura, it would depend on if you are talking about college or home.  Two different sets.

C-Cake or Pie?  I like a combination of both!  Chocolate mousse cake, cheesecake, apple pie, pecan pie, blueberry pie… You name it, I love it.

D-Drink of Choice:  Non-Alcoholic- Just plain old water (I know, I know.  BORING).  Alcoholic- Molson Dry.

E-Essential Item:  My Hat.  I have never really liked my hair (insecure?).  I like to wear a hat most of the time and I usually switch between my University of Maine hat and my Boston Red Sox hat.  Also, lately I need to have a sticky note pad on me at all times so I can remember ideas I have for my blog. 

F-Favorite Color:  Blue, preferably dark or navy.

G-Gummi Bears or Worms?  I would have to say gummi worms, mainly because they are bigger and you don’t have to stick a handful of them in your mouth to taste them.

H-Hometown:  Randolph, NJ.  The #1 underage drinking town in New Jersey, as reported by Fox News two years ago. 

I-Indulgence:  Food.  I eat as much as I can when I want to indulge myself, which is just about every meal. 

J-January or February?  I would say January, because New Year’s is always a lot of fun.  Not to mention that that Valentine’s Day is in February, which means money will inevitably be spent. 

K-Kids:   Someday I’m sure.

L-Life is Incomplete Without:  Love.  And food.

M-Marriage Date:  Very far in the future.

N-Number of Siblings:  2 (brother and sister).

O-Oranges or Apples?  I like apples because they are sweeter, but I can’t eat the skin.  Why you ask?  I am allegic to pollen, and the skin is usually coated in pollen, even when you wash it off.  When I eat the skin, my throat becomes extremely itchy.

P-Phobias or Fears:  None really.  Maybe a fear of failure, which drives me to work hard on everything.

Q-Favorite Quote:  I have never been able to remember quotes!  I have an incredible memory, and its near photgraphic, but I can’t remember quotes.

R-Reasons to Smile:  Loving family, loving girlfriend.

S-Season:  Autumn.  Autumn is easily the most beautiful season.  You put on a sweatshirt, walk through the woods, and see the vast spectrum of colors all around you.  Not to mention, the Northeast has some of the most beautiful Falls you will ever see.

T-Tag Three:  OK, I feel like such an outcast.  I don’t have anyone to pass this to!  I’ve only been blogging for a little more than a month and the few blogs I look at have already been tagged.  The only other one I look at consistently doesn’t know I exist. 

U-Unknown Fact About Me:  I like to play Medal of Honor: Allied Assault online.  Yes the game is like 5 years old.  I have been hooked for all 5 of those years, but only in my spare time.

W-Worst Habit:  Procrastination.

X-X-Ray or Ultrasound?  Well, considering it would be like an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie if I needed an ultrasound, I’m going to have to go with X-Ray.  Where’s the MRI option?

Y-Your Favorite Food:  Pizza, bagels, pizza bagels.  I also like turkey subs with white american, mayo, and lettuce.  I really can’t resist anything though.

Z-Zodiac:  Taurus.

Did anyone notice V is missing?  They stretched Y pretty far so I’m not sure why they couldn’t come up with something for V.   Or maybe they just forgot.

A Canadian MP, Mike Lake, recently took up the fight to add a new species to the list of those protected by the Canadian Government. This list includes the Whooping Crane and Blue Whale. Who is this new addition to the list? Big Foot, of course! Lake argues that whether or not the mythical creature exists, it is certainly endangered and should be protected. He and his supporters are demanding comprehensive protection for the Big Foot immediately. One of the supporters is Todd Standing, a Big Foot researcher (official title?). Standing claims that “when I get species protection for them nationwide, I will make my findings public and I will take this out of the realm of mythology. Bigfoot is real!”

If we didn’t have enough evidence that Canada was insane already, this would probably be sufficient to prove the point.

Students in college these days usually have to take somewhere in the neighborhood of 120 credits in order to graduate with their degree. Today I was looking over my degree audit and checking to see what kind of courses I would need to tkae to complete my studies. It turns out that close to 50% of the courses I need to take for a degree in Finance are gen ed (general education) courses. A gen ed course is a course that does not tie in with your major, but yet the college deems it important for you to take at some point. Some of you might be sitting there nodding your head and saying “sure, there are certain skills that you should develop in college”. I agree that writing skills and certain math courses might very well be necessary to succeed later in life, but where am I ever going to need the elective courses that I am forced to take. To date, I have taken astronomy, world religions, psychology, spanish, and a freshman seminar. Now the information in some of these course might very well be interesting, but what real purpose will it serve me later in life. I enjoy learning and I enjoyed these courses, but at what cost? Now my college education is costing me $30,000 dollars a year. That means I am going to start my professional life $120,000 dollars in debt. That figure doesn’t even include law school which could add another 60 to 80k to my tab. Thanks college, do I tip you 15% too? Now those numbers include room and board, as well as meal plans and books, but if you look at what it is costing me per credit, I am looking at $1000 dollars for every credit I take. Now if you translate 50% of that total into the 50% of the credits I am taking that I won’t need later in life, I am essentially paying the college $60,000 dollars more than I need to for my degree. Why do college’s make us take electives? I hardly think it’s because they want me to be a well-rounded individual. I am always reading about how Penn State is pushing for more funding, but where are they spending that extra 60k I am giving them? I mean, an english class doesn’t really cost them the $3,000 dollars that I am paying to take it, especially when they stick a grad student as the instructor.
